Preposition Power

Updated: Jul 24, 2020

Prepositions show where a noun is located and by 33 months your child

should use early developing prepositions such as:”on”, “under” or “in.”

These can be reinforced by reading books, singing, playing games, such as hide and seek, and making sure your child can follow simple instructions.

Prepositions are fun and easy to teach as you can make use of daily, real objects and teach vocabulary as you go along e.g . put the teddy in front of the chair or put the cup on the saucer. Reverse roles and let your child teach you by giving you instructions. This will not only give your child opportunity to practice prepositions but will also allow them to improve sentence length with correct grammar.
