Onomatopoeia's-make my sessions fizzle rather than sizzle!

An onomatopoeia is a word that names a sound and also sounds like that sound e.g., buzz, beep, whoosh, boom, hiss, tweet.

Onomatopoeia's can be effective in stimulating speech and language development in small children because by providing auditory cues, the child is able to associate the sound with specific objects or actions.

Noticing and imitating sounds also helps to build phonological awareness, a key aspect of early literacy development.

Onomatopoeia's contribute to a more immersive, engaging, fun, effective learning experience, as the multisensory approach fosters connections between sound repetition and speech production.

It is also an effective technique for older children to add to written language because it brings another level of interest to the text - the sense of hearing!
